SPACES and WOOD-LEE are "Gondala" Venice Biennale
Starting on Saturday May 20th and continuing to run until the end of November, the 18th International Biennale Architettura in Venice, Italy has been one of the most high-profile projects we’ve been honored to help with. The Biennale Architettura is a nearly 20-year-old tradition similar to the Venice Art Biennale that has been running since 1895. Both Biennale feature pavilions from every country that show off either art or architecture in a cultural festival.
This year, SPACES Gallery from our very own Cleveland, OH, was selected for the honor of representing the U.S.A. at the worldwide exhibition; the first time an institution from Ohio has been chosen for either Biennale since 1950. We were honored to help SPACES pack and ship everything for the Everlasting Plastics Pavilion. Including everything for International Shipment over the Atlantic, so that it arrived without a hitch and without a scratch was a welcome challenge for our Art Handlers, we do not often have such large shipments going overseas.
Our Art Handlers had to make sure everything would piece together perfectly in each shipping container, as well as being compliant for international travel. After hiccups with the arrival art, shortage of available supplies, and even a delay with the freight ship, WOOD-LEE handlers got everything to Venice and installed it in the U.S.A. pavilion perfectly in time for the Biennale Architettura. We look forward to returning in November to carefully dismantle the exhibit and ship it back home safely.
